Levée d’Encres, is a pun. It may sound as an «anchor lift» or as a «harvest of ink». The harvesters are 10 translators, who took part in a program called The Translator’s Factory in Arles that celebrates its 10th birthday this year. They formed an editorial committee and undertook an exploration of contemporary Mediterranean literature, keeping in mind as a compass the title of the upcoming 37th Assises de la traduction littéraire (Arles in November): At the beginning was the image. They read and translated unpublished literary voices in French, but also French literature unpublished in Spain, Italy, Portugal and in the Arabic world, and will present a dozen texts on stage.
Alternately in French or in original version, this performance will be guided by the Franco-Mexican stage director and publisher Manuel Ulloa. It will provide a picture of nowadays imagination around the Mediterranean, including non-fiction narratives (documentaries or human and social sciences).
