Since the beginning of 2020, the artist Olivier Millagou, the association Voyons voir | contemporary art and territoiry and the Double V Gallery are building a project which is part of the program Parallèles du Sud of the European Nomadic Biennal Manifesta. Winter A-Go-Go is based on the artist’s reflections about nature and ecology.
As a surfer, close to the sea and natural elements, Olivier Millagou is attentive to rhythm, the rhythm of time, the rhythm of productivity but also the rhythm of the waves. The project conceived during this past year, is based on this approach to use collected garbage on the beach brought by winter winds. Our coastline is full of raw materials, which the artist chose to extract rather than consume new ones for his creations. This collecting process results in a series of tikis, half god, half human sculptures, made from polystyrene and aluminium castings, collected from the Mediterranean coast as well.
Opening on the 30th of August from 11.00 to 13.00.
A proposal by Voyons voir | art contemporain et territoire in collaboration with the Double V Gallery.
Curated by Céline Ghisleri and Nicolas Veidig-Favarel.
Partners : Chantier Naval de Borg and Galerie Sultana.
