Paysages productifs

Nicolas Floc'h

25.09 - 17.01.2021 / Frac Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur

With productive writings, productive structures and productive landscapes, Nicolas Floc’h has developed research around the representation of environments and their use and transformation, whether terrestrial or marine, atmospheric or polar. Interactions between ecosystems, from within the “ocean machine”, enable him to tackle issues of habitat, landscapes, biodiversity, climate, and productivity, making use of simple concepts: living, feeding, exchanging. From his explorations of the submerged parts of the various maritime faces of the French coastline, Nicolas Floc’h reveals these landscapes and puts them into perspective in a global way in his different projects. Initium Maris (2018-2021) brings us up close to underwater landscapes and their transformation in the west between Saint-Malo and Saint-Nazaire as well as in Japan. The Colour of the Water (2016-2021) immerses us in the ocean, the history of art and life from the Côte-Nord out to several oceans. In the south, Invisible (2018-2020) plunges us into a peri-urban environment in the Mediterranean. The exhibition offers a new vision of the underwater environment.
