This project is postponed to 2021 due to the new health measures taken to deal with COVID-19.
At the beginning of 2019, Vidéochroniques presented a group show as the outcomes of a process aiming at examining the attractiveness of Marseilles in the eyes of the young artists who had been settling here massively in recent years, helping to renew its vitality. This enquiry also revealed that Brussels was, for many, the only other alternative to Marseille and impulses the idea of a similar project for the Belgian capital. Indeed, in many ways Brussels and Marseille share common assets: they are both compatible with marginal economies and minority lifestyles, they have a sustainable cost of living, they have favorable conditions of production and distribution, etc. Under the title, Magnetic North, the project aims at presenting a group show that will reflect the dynamism of the art scene in Brussels (substantial presence of artists, collectives, independent art spaces, etc.) and the social, cultural and urban conditions that underlie it. Conceived in echo to our own local situation, but also with a view to informing and stimulating it, it will take place in 2021.
A proposal by Vidéochroniques.
