Des Architecture(s)

Valérie Jouve

28.08 - 03.11.2020 / Centre photographique Marseille

In the exhibition Des Architecture(s), Valérie Jouve makes us feel the intensity of the Living which draws powerful architectures on our bodies, our cities, our forests.

The exhibition is not a demonstration of her latest works – it doesn’t make sense in her artistic approach – it is much more of a transposition of a thought into pictures. It is the construction of a “space inhabited by images” which emerge through editing, an essential element for the artist who make links between new or never shown photographs, and others already known.
The notion of Characters definitely continues to enrich her collection of images, but the trees (which have become her favourite topic since 2003) take on a unique dimension that depicts them as characters.

Des Architecture(s) is also the place for a dialogue between the artist and the director, more than thirty years after their first joint exhibition in Arles. Le Centre, its space and its scenography, will embody the tangible support of this dialogue.
