It is with great sadness that we have to inform you that due to the new national French COVID-19 regulations announced yesterday by President Emmanuel Macron, as of Friday 30th of October all museums, galleries, etc. in Marseille will have to close. The regulations stay in place for a minimum of four weeks.
In consultation with the Mayor of Marseille Michèle Rubirola, the Ministry of Culture, the Prefecture, and the Conseil Départemental des Bouches-du-Rhône, we have decided this means the 13th edition of Manifesta will effectively be closed.
Within the next days, Manifesta 13 will announce how visitors can still experience the biennial’s exhibitions through a digital format. Should certain projects that are part of the parallel programme Les Parallèles du Sud reopen after the national lockdown, Manifesta 13’s team will be sure to inform you.
We are incredibly grateful and thankful to all our partners, participants, curators, collaborators, team and board members for all their hard work and dedication, resulting in the biennial still having been open to the public from the 28th of August until the 29th of October 2020.
